Our Catholic Faith
The Faith Committee is a group of teachers that assist in planning weekly Masses and religiousceremonies for our school community. The Faith Committee includes the following teachers:
Primary
Intermediate
Middle School, Lisa Newman
Parents may contact teachers accordingly for specific questions by level, or general questions may be directed to Lisa Newman or Jenni Zajac.
School Mass
Parents, friends, and family members are welcome to join the students at Ave Maria for the school Mass. It is held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 9:00 a.m. with varying grade levels attending. There is also an all-school Mass at least once a month landing on a Friday or a Holy Day of Obligation. Click here for the guidelines for the reception of Communion.
Sacraments
Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
Instructions for these Sacraments are done by the Parents/Guardians. Parents/Guardians are required to participate in the sacramental classes offered in order to prepare their child(ren) for Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) and Holy Communion (Eucharist). One session is required for each sacrament. Although the parents are ultimately responsible for their child’s preparation, there is instruction in their classroom and the school partners with the parents to complete the sacrament requirements. Click here to find out who may prepare for First Holy Communion.
Confirmation is now being taught through our middle school religion curriculum. Parents must register their student through the church Faith Formation program in order for your child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at Ave Maria Catholic Church.
Interested in becoming Catholic (RCI; Rite of Christian Initiation)?
Parents' Prayer prays for the intentions of one classroom from Ave Maria, as well as for those who are in attendance. All school parents are invited to join other parents in prayer in St. Katherine Drexel in Dwyer Hall before every ALL SCHOOL Mass (typically on a Friday). If not a week of an ALL SCHOOL Mass, then the group meets on Wednesdays after morning drop-off. Members generally pray the rosary (the prayers and rosaries are provided). For more information contact Lisa Smith at 303-805-4527.
Living Catholic is a monthly opportunity to dig deeper into a faith topic. Please consider joining this group for fellowship and discussion. All are welcome! Gatherings are held in the St. Dominic Room in Dwyer Hall from 9:30-11:45 A.M, on the second Wednesday of each month. The presenter is Lynne Lane, Director of Adult Faith Formation, Ave Maria Parish. For questions contact Natalie Roderick. Click here for topics/schedule.
