Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also known as the sacrament of penance; the sacrament in the Roman Catholic Church whereby a person's sins are absolved through confession and penance.

Reconciliation is routinely celebrated in English on Saturday afternoons, 4:00-4:45 pm before the 5:00 pm Mass. Private confessions, in English and Spanish, can be arranged by contacting the parish priests through the Parish Office at 303-841-3750, as needed.

First Reconciliation
Any baptized child seven years of age and older and who has participated in Catholic Religious Education for the prior year(s): If the child is in the second grade, he/she has completed the first grade. If the child is in the third grade, he/she has completed the second grade in a religious education class or Catholic School.

*If your child is not baptized or has not participated in Catholic Religious Education, please refer to the Rite of Christian Initiation.

*Dates and times for Parent First Reconciliation Training are coming soon.  Please check back at a later date for exact dates and times.

To register for First Sacraments turn in a copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate to the Faith Formation Office.  A copy is needed by the Faith Formation Office for every child, even if the child was baptized at Ave Maria Catholic Church.

Preparations for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist are taught primarily by the Parents/Guardians.  Parents/Guardians are required to participate in the sacramental classes offered in order to prepare their child(ren) for Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) and Holy Communion (Eucharist).  Although the parents are ultimately responsible for their child’s preparation, there will be a strong emphasis in their classroom, as well.
