- Do you have a dress code? Yes, please refer to the Uniforms Tab for more information.
- Are you on a traditional calendar? Yes, students attend school from the beginning of August through the end of May. Please refer to the Calendars Tab to view our current Calendar--at a glance. A more detailed school calendar can be accessed by logging into TeacherEase.
- Are you accredited? Yes, AMCS accredited through NCEA/AdvancED, a renowned school evaluation organization and Certified as Catholic through the Catholic School endorsement of the Office of Total Catholic Education.
- Are your teachers certified? Yes, and the average teaching experience is 15 years. Also, about 45% of Ave Maria's teachers have/working toward their Master's Degree.
- Do you have a Hot Lunch Program? Yes, Ave Maria Catholic School is excited to announce that we are partnering with Our Kids Our Schools to provide a wide variety of tasty and wholesome lunches for our students and staff. Milk orders must also be purchased via Our Kids Our Schools. Our Kids Our Schools is a local Colorado company who partners with Whole Foods Market, providing delicious and affordable food and beverage choices free of dyes, preservatives, and unhealthy additives. Meals are delivered fresh daily for students, visitors, and staff. Each item has a clear and complete ingredient list. Build your own unique lunches from the Our Kids Our Schools menu choices of entrees, sides, drinks and treats. Orders may be placed online by Friday at midnight prior to the week lunches are delivered. Orders can be placed up to four months in advance. Payment is handled through secure credit/debit card processing. The Our Kids Our Schools program gives back as well--Ave Maria earns a percentage of the revenue from all orders. Simply visit the OKOS website at www.OurKidsOurSchools.com, select "Join Now", and follow the easy steps for account set-up. Begin placing orders by selecting “Order Lunches” and selecting the first day you’d like to order for. - Do you have before and after school care? Yes, the Extended Day Program begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. during regular school days.
- Do students attend Mass regularly? Yes, students attend Mass Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays depending on varying grade levels. They also attend an all school Mass once a month typically on Holy Days of Obligation.
- Is there a religious curriculum? Yes, the religious curriculum is part of the daily school schedule for preschool the eighth grade.
- What are the school hours? 7:55 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
- How long has the school been in existence? The school opened September 2000.
- Do you take CSAP tests like the public school system? No, annually our students participate in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). Please refer to the Academics tab to view our annual test results.
- What is your class size? There is a maximum capacity of 26 students per class in Kindergarten through Eighth grade. There are two classes per grade level.
- How many students continue on to Catholic high school? Over 75% of last year's graduating class (2010) were accepted and attended Catholic high school.
- Is there bus service? Yes, bus service will begin in the 2011-2012 school year. Please refer to the Car Line and Transportation tab for more information.
Guardian Angels Program
The Guardian Angel program matches experienced Ave Maria families with those families who are new to our school. Guardian Angel volunteers make themselves available throughout the year to answer questions and provide support to new Ave Maria families.
