Activities and Clubs
There are several activities and clubs that students enthusiastically participate. Currently students can choose to be involved in the following clubs: Spelling Club, Angels' House of Rock, and Math Club. Additionally, there numerous ongoing activities in our community that students are involved with including Altar Serving, Scouts, community service projects and dances/socials sponsored by Student Council, Ave Maria Athletics, and Wrestling.
Angels' House of Rock is Ave Maria's version of "Rock Band". This club experience is offered to students in 6th-8th grade with 6+ months experience in a musical instrument or vocal practice interested in casual jam sessions and some composing of liturgical and pop-culture tunes. This club meets with Mr. Skoog on alternating Tuesdays after school during the second trimester.
Math Club is designed for middle school students who are passionate about their math skills. These students practice math skills and work through problems during their meetings in order to compete as a team or individually in MathCounts competitions throughout the Denver area. Math club students meet with Mrs. Gauss on alternating Wednesdays during middle school lunch period.
Spelling Club is comprised of students in 4th-8th grade. During weekly meetings, students prepare to compete in both the school and Archdiocesan spelling bees. Students in Spelling Club meet with Mrs. Tara and Mr. Lyons on Thursdays after school from September through January.
Student Council serves as community service project leaders and representatives of the student body. Elected members include 8th graders that act as co-presidents, secretary, treasurer, and class representatives, 7th grade class representatives, 6th grade class representatives, and 5th grade class representatives. Some of the responsibilities of Student Council include organizing monthly service projects, hosting school socials and dances, and offering tours during Open Houses. The members, along with Mrs. Ronan, Mrs. Leffler, and Mr. Skoog meet on alternating Fridays during middle school lunch period.
